It isn’t always sunny.

It isn’t always sunny at the quarry. Literally and figuratively.

The other day our elderly neighbor’s dog passed away. The dog had, in a way over the past 3 summers we have owned our home, become the “add-in” furry child. A sibling of our dog’s. It’s kind of like when your child has a best friend that spends every minute they possibly can at your house. My husband and I are sad over the loss, and our dog is confused as to why he hasn’t gotten a chance to sniff over his good friend Lily in a few days.

Then the rain came. For an entire 24 hours, a consistent rain fell. Drowning my flowers, downing tree leaves with pouring rain… it’s been a pretty water logged summer here at the quarry. It hasn’t given us much chance to get our outside projects done as we had planned to tackle before snow flew. We can only hope for a warm, sunny Indian Summer to give us that last chance.
